Fair Use Policy
Traffic on our VPS is generous and unmetered under fair use. This page explains what that means in plain language. It supplements our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy.
The short version
Every VPS connects through a shared high-capacity port and we don't bill you per gigabyte. For normal hosting and business workloads you never have to think about traffic — the overwhelming majority of customers never come anywhere near a limit. Fair use simply keeps the shared network fast and fair for everyone.
What "unmetered under fair use" means
- No per-GB billing. You are not charged for the traffic your services move.
- Shared capacity. A stated port speed describes the class of uplink to our network, not a guaranteed sustained rate at all times. Bandwidth is shared with other customers, so continuous line-rate transfer around the clock is not what these plans are designed for.
- Proportionate to your plan. Traffic is expected to be broadly in line with a typical server of that size. A small VPS permanently saturating its port 24/7 is not ordinary hosting use.
When usage becomes a problem
A very small number of servers move far more traffic than the plan is designed for — usually sustained, maxed-out transfer that affects the shared network or is wildly disproportionate to the product. When that happens we may temporarily reduce (throttle) the network speed on that server so it stops impacting other customers.
What this means for you:
- It is temporary and self-correcting. Once the excessive traffic stops and usage returns to normal, full speed is restored automatically — you don't need to open a ticket.
- Your server keeps running. A speed reduction only affects network throughput. Your CPU, memory, disk, data, and IP addresses are untouched.
- We'd rather talk. For persistent or repeated cases we'll reach out and help you find the right fit — often a larger plan or a dedicated server is the better home for heavy, constant transfer.
Why we don't publish exact numbers
We deliberately don't publish a specific gigabyte or terabyte figure, a timer, or the exact speed we reduce to. Real-world thresholds depend on your plan, the node, and current network conditions, and fixed public numbers would invite deliberate gaming of the shared network at everyone else's expense. The rule of thumb is simple: use your server for genuine hosting and business purposes and you will not be affected.
Deliberate abuse
Fair use is about protecting a shared network, not policing normal customers. Using traffic to attack others, relay spam, or otherwise breach our Acceptable Use Policy is a separate matter, handled under that policy and our Terms of Service — up to immediate suspension without refund.
